admin: In 2011, in Saratov, published a volume illustrated reference book on the history of the Volga German colonies: Litzenberger O. History of the Volga German settlements. Part 1. Lutherans: A-M. - Saratov, 2011. This work is the first reference book which gives a historical description of the Volga German settlements. In the first volume a entry was made on 41 German colonies. It includes the German family names ranging from A to M. Some sections describe the geographical locations and administrative-territorial belongings of these settlements during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. They give indications on demographic trends and analyses on the status of certain German architectures. Considerable attention is paid to religion, the history of church communities as well as to their characteristics, to architectural features and schools. Of particular interest, for those interested in genealogy, are the registers on the German colonies, which are stored in the city archives of Saratov and Engels. The publication contains numerous illustrations for each of those localities. They are intended to convey the atmosphere in which the Volga German lived as well as the state of human settlements. The cost for publication for foreign countries: 30 euro. The volume is deliveries by publishing organization and the post charges are included in the book price. To learn more about this publication, as well as to purchase; the directory may be reached at: kolonie@mail.ru
